Recently Isambard accepted an order for a rim from me (Excellence 36h silver), then never called me or nothing. I bought one elsewhere.

Arup is a forum favourite. Cheap builds and very good at what he does

They were my winter/commuting wheels but not subjected to any more abuse than any wheelset I had before, or have had since - none of which have given me anything like the same problems.
The rims just seemed incredibly soft - two developed dents from potholes. I think the first set were not terribly well built initially but were pretty much taken apart and rebuilt after a month and then endlessly trued. It could be I got a bad batch but I've not been back to find out. Better to buy a DT Swiss r460 for the same, or less money. -

Fair enough. What rims are you using now? I assume the Open Sports have been binned a long time ago.

Had a pair of 32h TB14s laced to campagnolo record track hubs since 2012. Still in great condition and haven't needed trueing once.

Since then I've had 2 sets of open pros which both did 2 years before cracking, and now a pair of Archetypes - so far so good with them too.

Oh and a powertap / a23 wheel, which was a pain in the arse (but probably more a hub problem than rim).

Mine have been fine for 2 years. Just given them a little true and they're perfect again.

Was it an older Powertap? I heard that the older version's flange offset caused hideous dishing issues.

It was a newer one, with the black hub body.

Cycle ps battersea are currently building up a set of CF Suzues to tb14's and they price fairly. Also recommend Clever Mikes if you based in north ldn
Thanks for all the replies. It's been helpful to hear your experiences. Good to know that most of you have good things to say about the TB14 rims.
Now, do any of you have a wheel builder based in London that is experienced and doesn't charge too much?
I recently visited Isambard's bike shop on Bethnal Green Road, and he charges £25 labour per wheel, which I found reasonable. Anyone had wheels built by Isambard's or have any comments about their work?
