They were my winter/commuting wheels but not subjected to any more abuse than any wheelset I had before, or have had since - none of which have given me anything like the same problems.
The rims just seemed incredibly soft - two developed dents from potholes. I think the first set were not terribly well built initially but were pretty much taken apart and rebuilt after a month and then endlessly trued. It could be I got a bad batch but I've not been back to find out. Better to buy a DT Swiss r460 for the same, or less money.
Interesting. Under what circumstances did this occur?
In contrast to the TB14 I've built with many, many Open Sports and as long as they are built well they perform well. They are basic, sure, and definitely not as good as TB14s or as asthetically pleasing but are functional and a classic box section rim. They also have very similar qualities in terms of how they build up, perhaps largely stemming from their closeness in terms of ERD.
I do think the Open Sport is much maligned.
