Having looked at some shipping costs, I'm very happy that I'm flying with Virgin now... Thanks for pointing this out (you too aagi), I didn't know about the free sports equipment.
SO. Is anyone selling a hardcase bikebox? Please let me know!

Actually. I've been think I selling my B&W bike box as I don't think I'll be needing it again for a while and I haven't got the space for it. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Has anyone else ever experienced problems with the pad in their bib shorts?
At last night's race I pulled on my freshly washed skinsuit (Champion Systems) only to discover that the pad had somehow got bunched up right underneath my balls making it almost impossible to ride. On closer inspection it appears that the pad has 3 layers - A top layer that sits against my skin, a hidden internal foam layer and then the fabric of the shorts. I guess the foam layer is supposed to be sewn in place, but mine appears to have come unshipped from it's moorings and is now floating around all scrunched up between my legs.
Never had this happen to a pair of shorts previously, and not very impressed. Especially since it's a race skinsuit and therefore can't have been worn more than 20-30 times.

You are lucky you can fly with virgin. They only fly to the UK. The cheapest I was able to find when I went to NYC was 100 per flight extra for the bicycle. So I had to pay that twice if I wanted to get my bike over. The most expensive back then was 190 per flight for the bicycle. That was almost the same as the price of the ticket itself.

Never heard of that before. I've seen bibs with damaged sews, but only on the outside around the legs. Never even heard of a bib or a skin suit failing on the pad in such a short time. It can fail after a few thousand hours on the saddle, but wearing it 20 - 30 times should not cause any issue. I would suggest sending an e-mail with pictures and asking them what to do about it. Or, if you are sponsored, ask them to get you a new one.

Is 35c the maximum size tyres than can be fitted on open pros?
-
• #70015
Wouldn't want to go much bigger if only because the profile would get silly

Officially, I think it's 28 or 32 according to Mavic. People have got away with various levels of stupidity, but you end up with severely compromised ride & handling if you push the limits.

How many punctures before you consider getting new rims? As I've been getting them every time I ride and even twice sometimes, I've changed the rim tape and have been checking the rims for sharp bits but to no avail. Not sure what to do and it's only on the rear so help would be greatly appreciated

Where are the punctures occurring on your inner tube? Are they penetrative punctures from a sharp object, spoke punctures from fucked rim tape, pinch flats from too low pressure, is there a hole in your tyre and the tube is herniating through it?
Find the source of your problem and then decide.
Can routers be rented? They seem a bit pricey for a £6 frame and a one off. Drill and a jig saw sound like the "route".
Good points about proper fixing / securing though.
