There's absolutely nothing wrong with loose ball, if anything they're going to perform better than cartridge for for polo use; less resistance under cornering load.
Just because something is cheaper for hub manufacturers to machine and tool for, and is easier for people who don't maintain their shit to rescue, that doesn't under any circumstance make it a better performing hub.
The best performing hubs I own are cup & cone (both roadbikes, trackbike, and tourer). The only reason I didn't build polo wheels on loose ball was from a maintenance perspective. I'd only make the decision again on an MTB/beach cruiser.
