One logistics thought. So they carry very little with them obviously. Most don't even have a change of shorts. A change of socks is a luxury enjoyed just by a few. So what happens when they arrive in Istanbul? How do they fly home and how do they box up their bikes? Or is a small bag carried out for them or do they go shopping for shorts, t-shirt and flipflops? This is starting to worry me.

Think most people usually courier something to a PO box or something similar. Or maybe even have someone meeting them there - I'd certainly want the latter!

I'd want my mum and a doctor

Skinny is meeting his girlfriend there and have two weeks R&R.
Then go touring with his best friend.
No sleep for the wicked.

Given that Istanbul is one of the great cities of the world, a centre of learning, culture and art when Londoners were still throwing handfuls of mud at each other, I hope they'd be able to source some socks there.
In any case, there's a Marks and Spencer : Zeytinlik, 34140 İstanbul, Turkey

What are you talking about? We're still flinging mud at each other's.

Also the scene of the greatest English football triumph in history. Or so I'm told.

I was in Istanbul earlier this year - it went straight to the very top of the "there is no way I'd cycle here" list.

If I had to drive there I'd buy a cement mixer.

Skinny has made it to Croatia. Amazing stuff especially when you realise there are still some people on ventoux.

It's an odd spectator experience - hovering over "75", then "2" in order to check the gap, then checking Twitter for any news.

leo tong: "interesting start to the day. my @garmin edge 1000 froze and then after a reset it appears to have zeroed half of my route files. yay, thanks 😡 have a backup route on the iPhone but it's not the most useful. already took a big wrong turn. staying positive though."

Does the 1000 take micro-SD cards? Not like a couple of spares with the route on each would weigh you down...
