It's definitely a Brrr. Doesn't seem direction dependent at all. Just pitch changes based on speed. Will try a roundabout normal and then a roundabout in reverse. :)
Oh and it's front wheel drive, a mk1 octavia vrs estate, if that makes any difference.

If you can head out further afield to hertford, I'd highly recommend Colin Gunning, VW specialist and most honest and on it mechanic I've ever met.

After my wife decided to 'rub shoulders with' a sticky out bit of metal in the multi story, I've fallen out of love with my 11 year old freelander HSE...it's going to need a fair bit spent on it soon......so I bought a ford for her.....
10 month old titanium x sport Kuga....it's very, very nice though, and makes the freelander feel like a tractor

Has someone taped a bit of yoghurt pot so it catches the spokes to make it sound like a motorbike?

We had one of those as a hire in Iceland. In titanium x guise, the interior is fucking lovely. Didn't like the auto 'box much.

I had to get an auto, as my wife's knee is not good.....I gave it some beans on the test drive, and it felt alright.....compared to the landy, it was like butter!
It's amazing how cars have come on since we got the last one.....this bugger parks itself at the push of a button! -

My Golf parks itself when I give it to the valet guy.

Fair point. However, neither do I.

The old trick was to find a hill and let the car roll down with the engine off, then drive side to side to see which side made more noise.
Or the old MOT trick of raising the car till the wheel is off the ground and check for play.

Classics on the Common today BTW, 20 mins from LON, also if anyone listens to podcasts the latest This American Life is about NUMMI, the car plant in America that was a joint venture between GM and Toyota, although it's mainly just a good excuse to bitch about shite US cars and how a powerful union and lazy, corrupt workforce can strangulate a company (and I'm pro-union)

Reminds me of the film Gung Ho with Michael Keaton

Are cars an analogue for success there in the same way they are in the UK?
Yes. It's mostly a middle class tradition though. You can see here, in the attached picture, just how successful these guys are, they have a butler

Fella who lives over the road from Mrs TS's parents has about four cars (BMW, coupla 4WDs), a big McMansion with a pool, loads of Swiss watches, etc, but he hasn't got a pot to piss in... He's about to lose the lot cuz he got it all on credit... Lots of that about... My mate's got an amazing Subaru Impreza, total robot car that he runs on a nurses salary... And he's got a massive fuck off motor bike as well...
There are loads of Mercs here, all boomer owners tho'...

In Switzerland you need a window sticker pass thingy, buy it at the border, it costs about £35.
Cv joints tend to go clicky-clicky-clicky, wheel bearings go brrrrrrrrrrrr.
