• Following on from Thursday's BMW driver trying to force me off the road while cycling through Dulwich Village (in primary and keeping up with traffic) because I was taking up all of the space on the road not like the other cyclists (who were all previously undertaking moving traffic). Today I was passed with inches to space by Mears, Southwark Council white transit going up Westow Hill (missed the numberplate) and then to top it off at the wonderful Crystal Palace Parade/Fountain Drive junction where last year I was hospitalised by a driver not giving way and T-boning me I had another driver attempt to do the same which I avoided by slamming on the brakes.

Fuck London drivers, and fuck London's shitty road layouts. That junction in particular is an absolute deathtrap, apparently a consultation was held on the redesign but I can't find anything new. I also made the mistake of trying to turn right out of fountain drive earlier this year and had exactly the same with a driver come flying though, not giving way and only preventing a collision by my (now ingrained) extreme caution when using that junction.

  • Jesus, I've been nearly killed on that junction so many times - mostly from drivers from the left not giving way as I'm turning right out of Fountain Drive towards Cadence, but also when I've been turning right off Crystal Palace Park Road down fountain drive, and also drivers with homicidal tendencies on the first roundabout off the top of CPPR.
Fuck London drivers indeed - it's one of those wisdom of crowds things, working in reverse. Most people are good people, but it only takes one cunty bit of behaviour to influence yours detrimentally, which you then pass onto the next one, and the next, and the next. Anger management training in conjunction with regular re-testing of your highway code ought to be mandatory. But hey, driving's a right, not a privilege, no? Oh wait.
