I'm pretty new to this, but as @7Üp said Axiom provided the adaptor purely for the heel clearance and I'm glad I stuck with it because with my first test ride with the bag mounted in a position I thought was reasonable, my heel was slightly touching the bag and with a slight adjustment it works perfectly now. So without the adaptor it would have definitely be hitting my heel.

He meant the mount on the rear rather than that adaptor.
