  • Another concern is that because I don't have a quick release on the surely hubs, I've still used them for the mounting point for the rack instead of the eyelets.

Aside from the amount of work I would need to do with when I get a punctures is there anything else I should be worried about or should I just mount the rack back to the eyelets for peace of mind?

  • It makes absolutely no difference other than making it easier to get the wheel out and looking much more elegant. I'd swap to the eyelets for that reason, though. You might have to think about heel clearance.

  • Thanks god! =)

  • Noted, in that case I'll leave them on for now and change them over when I need to replace my rear tyre!

Thank for the help @7Üp =)

  • Hoke, Is it worth adding slime or stans fluid to the rear tube as a bit more protection for rear flats, might be enough to get you to work in time or back home in the rain if you pick up something sharp.

  • The only issue I had (with Tortec Velocity rack - the same mount-things and a QR) was a bit of axle slip. The QR doesn't bite into the dropout with that mounting plate.

Make sure those nuts are tight and I'm sure it'll be fine.

  • And... can you please post some more large photos of that POS chain on the internet please.

  • Thinking of this, but I think if it does happen if I get a puncture I will just get a proper puncture resistance tyres (and swallow my pride and get on the train =/)

  • Done! =)

And what is 'POS chain '?

  • Got some shiny slinks knocking about somewhere........ the classy chrome ones.

Hokes needs the blue slink to match the frame :)

  • get on the train

Crazy talk. Taking the pannier off and taking the skewer right out slows switching a tube, but not by much.

new fork, still got doubts about the stem, do I leave this one or do I change it for a 3T with 1"1/8e adaptator and 31.8 compact bars ?
It'll get titanium seatpost soon if things go right.

  • change it and sell this one to me. ;-)

  • I know! =(

Plus it's the wrong way round, so I'm going to ruin it before I replace it and the chainset =)

  • How come you've not used the frame rack mounts?

  • I was thinking about this for a while, but decided to go down for the rear mainly for stability and I prefer having the light front end to steer around London Town, plus I don't lift bro.

  • He meant the mount on the rear rather than that adaptor.

  • My guess was for heel clearance..

  • I'm pretty new to this, but as @7Üp said Axiom provided the adaptor purely for the heel clearance and I'm glad I stuck with it because with my first test ride with the bag mounted in a position I thought was reasonable, my heel was slightly touching the bag and with a slight adjustment it works perfectly now. So without the adaptor it would have definitely be hitting my heel.

  • Is the adaptor needed just for that bag, or would it be needed for standard panniers?

  • You don't need to take the wheel off to repair a puncture - just pop the tube out at the point it's punctured and patch it. Easy. Takes some time if you're cack-handed like I am, but that's just recovery time for the post-repair catch-up sprint.

  • Which you'll win, because all your mates got bored waiting for your cement to go tacky and fucked off up the road.

  • Whas the original forks Nemo ? more piks plz
This is going to be a ultimate steel bike !
Nemo, foco, spirit...tubes are rad forever !
