  • A nice start to the day and signing on. Spent the rest of the day trying to figure out how the jobsearch site for the DWP works, and looking around elsewhere as i look for something exciting to do.
I have a little break, something senses this........ well if your not looking for ways to pay for my whiskers then you can feed me, then you can skive off :)

  • Wish my cats would hoover..

  • Hehehe.
    Technically he's my boss' carer.
I am technically the cats groomer.
Taxes sent to accountant today lets see how it goes.

  • Wish mine would hoover, but me the Mrs and the cat are all long haired :)

Mine (Moet) had been sleeping on the bedroom window ledge, as soon as i skived off it was also random cuddles time and i think i should have a pre-tea snack time.

Chucked him outside, it's starting to rain so he's used the catflap himself (humans open doors if you meow loud enough) and he's somewhere inside again.

  • Sounds like good parenting.

  • Sulking or sleeping now, not sure...... didn't get a pre-tea snack as tea is at 5 sharp so not long to sulk away on the window ledge.

  • One of my cats has starting weeing in the bath next to Ms Hammer when she uses the [parallel] toilet. It's pretty weird and I don't think he does it when we're not home!

  • Who lets their cat in the room while performing bodily functions?
Ms Hammer is the one that needs retraining here...

  • Actually.....
Mrs 853 dosen't always shut doors so cat leaps up for cuddles when she goes for bodily functions.
I think she is a borderline madcatlady.

  • Since running in this morning to tell me it's raining real bad outside, she hasn't been out at all... rainy days are for cuddles and cuddles only.

  • So we're still thinking of getting a kitten (or more likely two). However...

In August we're going away for a quick holiday for 3 nights, and then the following week, to a music festival also for 3 nights. Finding someone to look after them shouldn't be a problem, but is this likely to be bad for them in any way? Obviously we wouldn't be getting kittens unless they're the right age to leave their mum etc., but would this be too much disruption in their young lives, or am I overthinking this?

I'm off work until 19 August so I will be at home quite a lot apart from the dates mentioned. Please tell me it will be fine so I can get kittens and start posting their lives here. Thanks.

  • I think you might as well wait till when you come back in Sept since it's not really that far away, unless there are kittens you have 'marked' already.

I think it's depends on where you get them from, if they are ex stray kittens from a cattery then you should definitely wait till you come back. That said, the advise from CHAT is they would rather cats be a bit bored in a new home that be in a cattery for longer than necessary.

If they are from a loving family, then my guess is as long as they are well socialized then I don't think it matters who looks after them as long as they are well entertained. Kittens are hard work which is why I wasn't advised, as a first time owner, to have a kitten.

  • In September we'll both be working for quite long hours again so that didn't seem ideal.

I thought with the choice between three weeks generally at home with a couple of days away or a time when we're both working a lot the former might be better.

We haven't found any for definite yet, but we've been looking at Pets 4 Homes so far, any other advice on where to find some would be great. Long haired tabbies would be ideal.

  • New sofa arrived less than 24 hours ago, already found his spot.
