After reading this I thought I would just check for you from the perspective of a stockist with two Tudor accounts. As far as we are concerned there is no recall on "original " Pelagos. They will just be replaced as sell through of the originals occur.

Hype! ? 😀
-
• #16929
Chinese whispers .. .And we have two black dial Pelagos in both stores just so as you know .
-
• #16930
VanUden blatantly bought 3 and is pumping the market ; )
In all seriousness I always wonder if blogs like hodinkee do this when they want to sell a watch.

Cool, thanks for clarifying. I did half think this rumour was to bump sales of the originals as the updates are coming in.

Ha! For you fiddy dorra!

Chalk and Cheese.
Thanks for showing the Pelagos and Sub side by side. I was a HUGE Pelagos fan, and on the point of buying one, but you've just cured me of that ! IMHO it looks big, bland and boring in comparison.
Chalk vs Cheese, to me it's Craftsmanship vs CNC.
Please don't flame me, I am old so there is some excuse :-(

Not sure where you get the CNC from! IMHO the Rolex* looks too glossy and shiny in comparison, everything about it says 'look at me' even the new ceramic bezel gleams. It also weighs a ton on the wrist because it's a big chunk of steel. I'm not anti-Rolex at all, I love my Explorer but it's a lot more discreet.
The Sub is the total opposite to the Pelagos, subtle, understated, considered, light to wear but still has presence. But I say this from having worn both. Before you make up your mind I'd suggest comparing them side by side and if you can spending a day (or at least a few hours) wearing each. You really can't make an informed decision from a pic on the interwebz ;)
*Am talking about the latest 'ceramic bezel' edition of the Submariner, not Ordinata's lovely Lolex ;)

That's not a Sub btw it's a cheap copy. 😀
While I think Rolex are benchmark timepieces I do think the Mercedes hands and round markers are a bit tiring. That is not to say I wouldn't rock a Sea Dweller etc
Just that I think that the Pelagos snowflake dial and white on black with titanium is a bit more Avant Garde ?
Like Audi vs BMW ?

I like it. Though I'd prefer a vintage one.

^wouldn't we all...
I think it is pretty plain for what is probably a five-figure watch*. it is one of the nicer ones, though.
i don't really get the hype around bffs. i like some of the oddball 70s watches, but the rest don't do much for me.
each to their own and all that...
- i have no idea

I should at some point put up pics of the homage I accidentally bought. Sadly the thing is a beast at 47mm...
I like it though. I like the clean dial of the watch.

Obviously a watch not to get if ^that guy likes it
-
• #16941
I'm with brm don't see the hype about blancpain fiddy
-
• #16942
I quite like it, but it's a fucking toppy bit of kit.
-
• #16943
Do like the Blancpain FF. Not entirely sure about the position of the date window on that one though.
-
• #16944
Like most Blancpains they're a bit glitzy for my taste.
Tbh I'm always amazed they're in business given their nice watches are so few and far between and they cost a bomb.
-
• #16945
got a square street minute man in it's box going spare if anyone is interested £80
-
• #16946
They made the first diver so Swatch bought them to blow the brand up and reap massive profits. Otherwise we'd probably all never had heard of them. It's a quality swatch.
I'd have to try a Pelagos to be sure but I'm not convinced I would choose one over a Sub, I've had a 14060m for 8 years and it's the perfect diver imho.

This is the sort of Blancpain that people wet themselves for:

What?! That FF is super subtle.
Been checking timing over last week.
About +2/3 sec a day so in COSC all good.
Happy it is fast too.
