Thanks... for nothing.
You don't look that big, how much do you weigh? My W/Kg is distinctly average when you look it up on the chart of self torture (i.e., the chart on this thing - http://cyclingtips.com.au/2009/07/just-how-good-are-these-guys/)

Normalised or average? Chaingang style rides where you're on and off the power can inflate NP. I can do a 20 minute session of 1 on/1 off with NP considerably higher than I could ever do in a TT.
-
• #154
average, normalised comes in at 307W.
@jim1985 hovering between 80-82kg, should be around 76. If I did a @Hovis I'd get there, but I think gastroenteritis is a pretty drastic way of achieving it. Off tandem touring in two weeks for a fortnight or so, so that'll help shift things towards a more favourable ratio.

Have fun mate and good luck!

That makes me feel a bit better then.... my W/kg is pretty similar.
@umop3pisdn
As an aside, what's a more useful measure when looking at rides you've done solo out of NP or average? For some reason I always look at NP as i though it gave a truer reflection when considering wind and gradients etc.... -

TBH I'm not the best to ask as I don't have a PM on my road bike and NP and AP tend to be within 2% of each other on the TT bike.

290W for 20 mins is definitely not your limit. It makes sense that your 54 min pace was only 5W lower than that. Otherwise you would have been riding like shit by pacing poorly. Sounds like your FTP is around the 290 - 300 mark.
Also don't do a me. For you will lose all your watts with your kg's at a unfavorable proportion.

Cheers dude. Dim sum sounds ace

I REALLY REALLY CBA to do anything except mong in front of the TV or mindlessly surf the interwebz
my plan for the rest of the day :)
-
• #162
Day off!? You should have got up late and gone to the lanes....
-
• #163
Little bit of work to be done. I never get around to laning, just waste the day. At least this got me out of bed nice and early.
-
• #164
And that is why I don't bother trying to keep up with you at the moment
-
• #165
Lunch eaten. Lethargy rapidly increasing.
-
• #166
I've been trying to keep awake since the moment I enter the office =/

Will need a turbo trainer soon, just need to keep up with these young guns!
-
• #168
Would recommend winter base miles, as lunchtime check of my Strava says above 10miles segments young Jim this morning was slower then my 2h yesterday evening :-)

Lack of ass = no pace on flats. And only just recovered from 6 weeks injury.
I like to think of myself as a Colombian inside a skinny white guy from the Midlands' body.
Will think of a few more excuses later.

may be out tomorrow morning @ 06:00
Any further thoughts?
-
• #171
Weather looks terrible. I'll be awake @ 5:30.
Thought I'd make the call there and then. -
• #172
Oh yeah, weather. It does look a bit rubbish. I was getting carried away at the prospect of more fun.
-
• #173
So I'm not riding this morning, but mainly due to legs being pain.
Will have to go for run later, so this is definitely a bad decision.\Edit- should have gone.

I did 2 x 25 minute low cadence (am trying to replicate long climbs) intervals on my turbo before breakfast this morning rather than risking wetness.
Think I'm in a coma now
-
• #175
Bleh that sounds no fun. Did 3 x 5min at low cadence (after other shorter intervals) and it was pretty painful
Not when you ride with @6pt and @eyebrows
But I do like getting up early and making most of the day
