What is it?
I've been riding a mid 90's steel bike and I think it handles as good, if not better, than my modern carbon bike.

My custom 853 rides way nicer than my carbon bike did.

I ride a metal frame built in 1994. It's the nicest bike I have ever ridden.

It's not about the material, it's the way it's put together. This is not news.

So basically your bike is shit

90s Colnago Master vs Colnago C50 - the difference is like night and day. Not saying I don't like the Master, I love it to bits but the C50 was light years ahead in every department.
(edit)....until it BROKE.

is this whole thread a humble-brag to show that your powerful legs broke your plastic bike?
I think the answer is probably in your bibs...

Haha. Get back to pondering my empty window you old rogue.
You would approve of my new bibs though. Castelli's lurid finest. Half the price of the black ones and look like they fell straight out of your kit bag....

....and that poor C50 was jinxed as soon as Minkfarmer shurikened it with a chainring.
Not sure the nail varnish ever really held up.
This is not new news. I'd already undergone the Damascene conversion to the joys of plastic. But...circumstances have had me back on my old steel for a couple of years now. To whit: an observation. Out riding last night I latched on to a couple of fast lads down a pretty technical little descent, it's steep, very twisty with enough straight bits to build some real speed. While they seemed perfectly planted, I was all over the gaff...there's enough flex, especially when changing direction over 30mph to threaten the gooch of the sturdiest bibs. I miss the all conquering, dial-a-lean stabilty of my old bike. I need some carbone back in my life.
