  • ^ Won't they have sent it to the Regent to pay your tab?

  • Cheque damaged/lost in the post? Please complete a claim form...

  • It's cool, I told them Fucktones HQ is at my office now. Cheers for the new wheelset in advance.

  • My long dormant web alert chirped at me this evening. Thunderbolt displays back in stock on the refurb store at £650. Years too late to be of use to me, and out of stock again now I look. Didn't take long.

  • Thunderbolt update #986:

Just found a boxed and brand new Thunderbolt on Gumtree for AU$1000 (just over £500), unused insurance replacement from when they had massive electrical storms here last year... It's in Brisbane so a slight PITA getting it back to the 'burbs... There's also a VGC one just down the road for only AU$800...

I might get the last laugh after all, ParcelFarce only paid out £533...

  • Goddamn new music app is a joke right?

  • When Windows 8 launched and xbox music took the fore in its music app, hiding your own music a few clicks away, people ripped it to shreds.

  • (this should really be in the ios thread)
Its removed all my music from my phone, and I cannot get them all back.
I've managed by restoring the thing to get 3000 of my 5000, but so damn infuriating.
(or at least I've tried to, its currently ongoing as I sit on this train).

  • Use the Google Play music app instead. It's far superior.

  • New music app has definitely taken a step back. Also now running El Capitan, no issues just yet but I don't like the font change.

  • cheapest place to buy new macbook pro retina with 16gb ram? (in Europe)

  • Stuck a Sandisk 240GB SSD I got in the prime day deal for £55 into my Late 2009 13 Inch Macbook.

Amazing performance upgrade, where programs used to take 20-30 seconds to open is now instant.

Planning on upgrading the 2GB of ram up to 8GB and should have a great macbook for a few years!

  • Your avatar is amazing.

  • Calling the hive mind, gf wants a wireless external hard drive for archiving her media - photos movies etc need it to be at least 2tb, and be able to run time machine, all recommendations appreciated..

  • Time capsule is the obvious choice. Nice but pricey. I'm sure theres a better option out there though, maybe a WD? With any wireless external hard drive plug it in for the first backup.

  • Nice... erm... butt...

  • Ladies and Gents, I am very fucking glad (NOT) to report that the ghost has returned. Now even when I am not signed in to CC, simply using any Adobe programme makes the ghost appears... Think Apple might have to give me a PC... I give up, I shall just give up using Adobe all together.

  • I used any old hard drive plugged into an airport extreme which worked pretty well.

  • If I want to do a clean install of the latest OS X (yosemite?) Do I need to download it again, or is it located somewhere on my machine? I'm already running it, but i want to do a wipe/reinstall to see if it makes my aged macbook faster - i need to make a USB boot drive.

  • A fresh install on Mac is not as effective as a fresh install on PC. You would achieve the same end result by deleting some of your apps/data.

Fresh installs are a good way of migrating between versions of OS X though (no legacy fluff), so go for it if you originally upgraded to Yosemite.

Ram/HD upgrade would improve your machine, or ensuring you run apps one-at-a-time (and work on smaller sized files).

  • i have maxed ram and SSD already - when i upgraded to yosemite everything just s l o w e d d o w n loads, so I thought, you know what, lets just back everything up and start again.

tldr - i have a child and cannot afford a new mac.

  • It's generally accepted that Yosemite is a bit of a pig, and that the new El Capitan version of OS X sorts a lots of things out. If you can wait until later this autumn, that version will be officially released and you should see things speed up. If you want a sneak peak and can deal with beta software, there is a public beta of El Capitan, which even in beta is being reported as better in many ways than Yosemite.

  • Don't use the Beta version of EC if you're using the machine for work (or important stuff)... perhaps roll back to Mavericks instead.

  • Yeah defo the above, I probably wasn't clear enough by just saying 'if you... can deal with beta software'. I haven't touched ELCap yet, just passing on what I've heard.
