  • Captures the brilliant cutting-away-at-moment-of-interest I was talking about perfectly!

  • Hmmm. If you stuff it up the inside you better lose the most speed or you'll run wide. TvG didn't put him there (on the inside - going too fast).

More shit riding from the French. #casualracism

  • Goes to show it's not ITV's fault as they're just given the feed (and that Cutch channel had to suffer the same problem).

Advertising breaks are at the discretion of the broadcaster though...

  • Thomas lost his glasses and they don't make them anymore. Pity because they have become fairly iconic .

  • Worrying about a lost pair of sunglasses doesn't befit a hard man's image.

  • It is a relief to hear, it suggests he's not had the sense knocked into him ;-)

  • ^^Being more worried about his sunglasses than smashing his head on a lamp post probably does...

  • Video here showing TvG's shoulder bump on Barguil;

    https://vid.me/Zp3H

  • Barguil still has a long time after the bump, in a straight line to brake and sort his line out though... I don't like TVG much, but it's hard to blame him for what happens to Thomas there.

  • Why was his foot unclipped that whole time?

  • I agree; TVG would never knowingly do anything interesting in a bike race

  • He said his left hand was bumped and he couldn't brake for a second or two as he sought to regain his grip.

  • Thomas has a sore shoulder and a bruised ear according to Team Sky.

Can you even bruise an ear?

  • Not to put too fine a point on it, but do you consider yourself a harder rider? If so, then fair enough. But I doubt it.
The look on his face when he realized he'd lost them though! I'm sure Oakley will help him out somehow

    BT

  • Yes and its effing painful and takes ages to heal. Odd stuff cartilage.

  • if he'd had his brakes set up the right way round he would have been fine. Bloody forrins.

  • I'm sure he was just being facetious

  • Meh.

People always gush when sportsmen/women have to deal with horrible things. Most nurses (or even some teachers) suffer as much in their jobs.

  • What, hitting their heads on lampposts and falling down a ditch? I know NHS hospitals are a bit hectic, but that just doesn't sound like a safe medical environment.

  • a safe medical environment

Have you ever been in an A&E dept on a Saturday morning?

  • Replace 'lampposts' with 'faeces'.

  • I work in A&E as a mental health worker.....erm yes we do have to deal with a lot worse. When there is someone having a psychotic break we have to make sure that a. The person doesn't hurt others and b. They don't hurt themselves. Occasionally this means restraining and that doesn't necessarily happen with the help of the police.

Rolling around in blood, vomit, urine and faeces is part of the job occasionally.

  • And it's part of my social life but you don't hire me banging on about it.

  • There is a good chance for a pro-cycling reality show here though, testing a World Tour rider at other jobs to see which is hardest. This week, Thomas Voeckler on the bins.
