Anyone have a foolproof technique for putting pedals on slightly damaged crank threads? My wife's mixte had some pedals mounted incorrectly on an alu stronglight crankset. I managed to get the old ones out, and the threads don't look that bad, but I can't seem to get the new pedals to engage with the threads properly. I'm hesitant to use any force, for fear of damaging the threads further, but I can't seem to get the pedals started (I have checked they are the right ones on the right side), and it seems stupid to take it to my grumpy LBS for such a trivial thing.
