Anyone know why there is a sign indicating 12km to the feed zones, why it is 12kms instead of, say, 5, 10 or 15?

Ouch. That was really horrid. Must be very sore. Also the heat and sweat dripping into the open wound isn't going to help. 60 odd Km to ride as well.

Can the medical car slowly tow riders back to the group without getting the rider in trouble? Amazing work while doing 40 or 50 kph. So much ouch.

My understanding is that you're allowed to hang on to the medical car for as long as you require medical attention.

With those grazes, he could be a contender for the sprint finish while still clinging on.

The fact that he's got bottles for his teammates as he battles his way back to the peloton!

I think they'd have excused him.
