Got the bike and already rode it! There's just a minor annoyance. I've already talked to Redd about this issue, and he is very forthcoming and non-defensive about this, but we'd both like some second opinions regarding an issue with the frame. It concerns scratches on the drive side horizontal tube, see below.
These were not visible on the dropbox pictures above (you can make them out on one of the pictures once you know they are there, but otherwise they look like reflections on the deliciously shiny paint), and not mentioned in writing. I was disappointed to find them there. If this were eBay, I would have formally complained and probably started up a conflict resolution process. However, this is not eBay. Should I just suck it up? Should Redd just suck it up and offer a small refund? What would be fair here? Get it touched up professionaly?
For completeness' sake: Everything else seems in excellent condition as advertised or as shown on the pictures, so no complaints there. I payed less than Redd's asking price by giving up the pedals originally included in the sale.
Let me stress again: Redd immediately apologized, acknowledged that he should have mentioned and pictured the damage, but that he simply forgot. That is consistent with how other damages were clearly pictured in dedicated photographs.
This is not a case of alerting others to a disingenuous seller, but more about the two of us inviting third-party opinions to come to a fair resolution :)
