^That tumescent headtube is ironically a bit of a boner-killer for me.

^^ Aaarghh, that headtube!

needs an over sized down tube to compensate

That Niner... I know aesthetics don't count toward function but it does look better with fatter tubes... dodgy PS chop:

^And the seat tube. Looks front heavy.

yeah, but you get the picture. Don't think anyone has managed to make tapered HT's look any good overall. They're like Cankles.

They deffo work better when the top and the downtube are sized appropriately.

If you can get the tubes to gradually taper from the fat front towards skinny stays (or a wishbone) then I think it works. Whether or not it has any impact on performance, who knows!
Doesn't really matter, my next bike will probably have discs, tapered HT, funny tubes and an SMP saddle. Recipe for ugly :) -

Aaarghh, that headtube!
Straight 44mm tube with an EC lower would go a long way to fixing that while keeping the tapered steerer.

Oversized seat tube?
Do not want.

Me neither, really. I just think the oversized headtube and downtube looks ridiculously asymmetrical (and not in a good way).

Those forks.

Head tube, Downtube and Chainstays are all things that can be stiff. Toptube, seatstays and seattube... not so much.

That said there are four strong cases of hhsbporn there.
Always nice to see again.
Eoahh thought I was in hhsb for a second.
This is currently, in my mind anyway, perfection.
