I went through a similar thing a couple of months ago as I was sick of changing pedals each time I wanted to go for a 'proper ride' (commute in spds, have spd-sl on my road shoes) but I pretty much hated it. They're probably not the finest solution, but I got the Shimano SPD-SPD-R Cleat Adaptors, and some cheap Wellgo cleats with sort of built in pontoons so you could put a foot down without wrecking them (in principle).
I'm over in Norwich, but I'l gladly stick the whole bundle in a Jiffy bag if you want to give them a go? PM me if you're interested.
spd-sl to spd convertors - an awful idea?
I've got a nice but a bit battered spare pair of road shoes, and wouldn't mid riding the cross summer series in them, by using convertors.
If they're not a bad idea, then which ones?
