Recovering from what?
Cobblers! (or upholsterers).

23mm wide tyres are fine on 23mm wide rims: they will measure more like 25mm wide.
(If I was being pedantic, I would point out that 23c tyres won't fit any of H Plus Son's rims.
But I'm not, so I won't.)
;)

You've got it the wrong way round. 23c clinchers, 23mm tubulars.

You two have done now, now tester is going to appear in 4...3...2... :p

Shit really? How are my tyres staying on then?

The C in 700C is just a French code indicating the difference between the 700mm nominal rolling diameter and the rim diameter, e.g. 650B is the same nominal rolling diameter as 650C, but a different rim diameter.

Does anyone know if pitlock skewers will work with older (126mm) spaced wheels?

If there isn't enough thread on the skewer, you could always add a washer.

I went through a similar thing a couple of months ago as I was sick of changing pedals each time I wanted to go for a 'proper ride' (commute in spds, have spd-sl on my road shoes) but I pretty much hated it. They're probably not the finest solution, but I got the Shimano SPD-SPD-R Cleat Adaptors, and some cheap Wellgo cleats with sort of built in pontoons so you could put a foot down without wrecking them (in principle).
I'm over in Norwich, but I'l gladly stick the whole bundle in a Jiffy bag if you want to give them a go? PM me if you're interested.

I *think* I had the standard skewer on a 126 hub. You can also get spare "universal" skewer which is all threaded and then cut to size.

Sansa Clip mp3 player - one of mine seems to have died. Is there a decent replacement for one of these? Cheap, decent battery, decent storage easy to use, etc?

Any shops in the City that sell cheap mp3 players?
Maplin. Good idea.

I used Amazon Prime Now for the first time on Wednesday. It seems that if you (or someone you can ask for a favour near you) has Amazon Prime, and you live/work in central London (or some other urban locations) you can order certain stuff and have it delivered within the hour.
I was pretty impressed!
(Someone recommended I use the Amazon Prime Now app which had an introductory offer knocking £20 off my first spend over £50. Meant I got an Amazon TV box for £40 within an hour of ordering - bonkers.)
EDIT: Tl;dr? - http://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=6584642031

My 'Prime guy' is working from home today. :(

Get him to order from home, but delivered to the office. They can't tell whether he's in the office or in his underpants.

If you mean the plus I would just replace it with the same, I'm always amazed with the sound that mine produces.

Tips on somewhere to do a days work in Glasgow.
I'm getting to Glasgow early Monday morning with a fully loaded touring bike. Need somewhere to plant myself until about 4pm before I can get my stuff into the AirBnB I'm staying at. Somewhere I could bring my bike and panniers in, and plug my laptop in, would be great.
I've also got access to the University of Glasgow is there's anything there people can suggest.

I'm not sure they'll let me bring a bike inside and I'm not bringing the most robust of locks.

Anyone have a foolproof technique for putting pedals on slightly damaged crank threads? My wife's mixte had some pedals mounted incorrectly on an alu stronglight crankset. I managed to get the old ones out, and the threads don't look that bad, but I can't seem to get the new pedals to engage with the threads properly. I'm hesitant to use any force, for fear of damaging the threads further, but I can't seem to get the pedals started (I have checked they are the right ones on the right side), and it seems stupid to take it to my grumpy LBS for such a trivial thing.
spd-sl to spd convertors - an awful idea?
I've got a nice but a bit battered spare pair of road shoes, and wouldn't mid riding the cross summer series in them, by using convertors.
If they're not a bad idea, then which ones?
