  • Hmm, looking online it seems to be the USB charging port and looks fairly common. Replacement fixes it.

    I had an issue with my old S3 where the headphone jack would break after about 6 months. Easy enough to swap out the module but shame it had to be done about 4 times over the 2 or 3 years of owning the phone.

  • Ordered a replacement board and a set of wanglers to get at the original. Wanglers came first so I thought I'd practice the removal. Removed the board, gave the usb port a scrub and reassembled. Bloody thing works now...

    At least I learnt something. Thanks for the tips!

  • Ah, success! And I s'pose as long as the part wasn't too pricey it's always nice to know you've got a spare to hand if it goes tits up again.
