• very nice, congrat!

  • Thanks, guys!

    Wim

  • Nice!
So jealous.... I had the same frame and I loved it but it got stolen 2 years ago.

  • Looks great! Quality build.

  • Oh, that sucks. What size do you have? There was one in these colours (but a Corsa frame) for sale here in Belgium. Never saw one like this before and since I bought mine, I think 2 or 3 other ones popped up on 2nd hand sites.

Thanks for the compliments (that's to @MattG87 too)

  • which cable housings are you using on the top tube? did you have to shave down the housing to fit in the guides before they go into the frame? thanks looks awesome

  • I had to shave them a bit, indeed. It's not ideal but it works so far. I'll have to find some stops that fit.

  • Ya i had to do the same thing, looks great.

  • DANG

  • Have been riding the bike a few times and sadly it was a bit too large for me. Almost a miracle I found the same frameset but in a better fitting size. Let the rebuilding begin!

  • And in good condition as well, great team colour combo. Very nice!

  • Thanks. My first one was in a slight better condition but this one is still very well too (considering it's a frameset from 1989/1990).

  • That's superb.

  • Thanks. I recently found a 1991 C Record groupset with first generation Ergopower and I think I'll put that one on it. A Croce d'Aune would be nice too. ;-)

  • And this is how it looks right now. Just looking for a decent 7 mm hex key so I can fasten the self extracting crankbolts (and a new set of tanwall tires as these seem to be completely gone).

  • Well done, it looks beautiful

  • Thanks. Bad thing I finished it now, now the weather is changing...

  • Stunning, great bike!

  • The story of this bike goes on...

Last week I bought a late eighties Ciöcc bike. Frameset looked decent but it had a mix of components (according to the former owner mostly Shimano 600) so I managed to get it for a low price. I was in a hurry when picking it up so I just checked the state of the frame, not paying attention to the parts. When I got home I started to examine the bike and found out it had front and rear derailleur, headset, crankset and BB from the Campa Croce d'Aune groupset!

So soon I will start rebuilding this Merckx again, this time the ultimate time as Croce d'Aune was the groupset used by the Team Stuttgart pro's back in the eighties.

    Pictures will follow

  • SO, this story has come to an end as I sold the bike to a friend. I replaced the C Record by a Croce d'Aune so finally this bike is as it should be. Thanks for following everybody;

    Wim
