Ah, sorry about that - I'd just assumed you were riding in the UK.
I've never had an issue on the free-ride map screen, it is only during turn by turn navigation. I guess we're using the device for different purposes, and for your purpose it seems to work great!
If it's lasted 7 hours I'd wager it'll be fine - mine usually crashes quite quickly (within the first hour or 2) on a longer route.
I don't know if you'd be able to help, as you might have only the Garmin euro maps, but I'm using my 810 to navigate the Munda Biddi trail in Western Australia. That being said, I won't be using way points or anything, it's semi-decently sign posted, and I'll be using the 810 "free-ride" map screen to just keep an eye on the trail at major turn points, as well as paper maps.
So to follow on off all that...does it crash in the free-ride map screen, or only during actual point to point navigation? I did 7 hours with it on the trail and it seemed ok, but I need it to be stable for 9 days of 12-14 hours a day...
