This is much smaller than it looks!
I have actually got one I need to sell. -

Here is a great comparison between different front racks: http://bikeshed.johnhoogstrate.nl/bicycle/rack/low_rider_comparison/

It's exactly as it name implied, but extremely heavy, would only recommend if you're intending to go round the worlds.

Ive got one of these from SJS on my dawes, http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/alloy-front-carrier-cantilever-boss-mounting-black-alloy-prod14021/
Dont know if that fits the bill for you?

Got one of those too,^ with a basket cable tied to it.
It's not pretty, and it's got no light mounts. But it's surprisingly light and solid as a rock. For the amount that it costs, you really can't go wrong.

I've just dropped the price of the Old Man Mountain front rack I'm selling.
Mega bargain now, someone must want it? -

If it wasn't black!

I was planning on getting a Pelago front rack, only problem is my bike has a clamp on front brake. Would it be unwise to mount it onto the clamp on brake?
-
• #87
yes Id say so, It might be a better idea to try and make something with a metal strip and some p-clips, but I still wouldnt be super happy with that.
-
• #88
Hmm okay, I feel things might start to look a little messy if I have another set of p-clips on the forks. Thanks for the help anyway.
My other option is to get one that mounts on the handlebars. Are there any other decent options other then the Cetma? Or even better, anyone have a Cetma they'd like to sell?

Vavert Advancer. Can be had for about £15.
-
• #91
Topeak do proper bolt on rack mounts. They're still a bodge, but neater (and stronger) than P-clips.
-
• #92
sorry I don't really know what you are suggesting, as in the fork steerer?
-
• #93
Which mount to the fork? I don't really want to mount anything more on the forks to be honest
-
• #94
Sorry, they're Tubus, not Topeak. Does involve more clampage though :(

Vavert Advancer
Awesome. Thanks.
-
• #96
Yeah so:
Both 'legs' to the axle, and the upper bracket to a bolt in the bottom end of the fork steerer tube.
Or am I thinking of the wrong rack?
-
• #97
Ooh I think I understand. Unfortunately the clearance on the fork is stupidly tight, there's no way to do that.
-
• #98
Get a road fork. It will have a proper brake hole and if you're lucky even rack mounts at the ends.
The longer rake and resulting shorter trail will be a big improvement when you have something on the rack. -
• #99
Not a bad idea actually. Unfortunately the original fork is one of my favourite features, the clearances are just too rad. I think I've decided to stick a rack on my road bike instead, for the meantime anyway. Might end up getting a drilled fork for it eventually but I'll see how the setup works on the road bike first and find the right fork.

I think in the end I will go for the Tubus Tara:
Is there a cheaper (and black) version of the VO Randonneur rack?
