  • My resting HR is in the low 40s and in the high 30s when I am at peak fitness. Although I have recorded HR up to 187, in practice it rarely goes above 153. If riding a multi-day event, I find that my average HR, even with Alpine climbs, drops below 100 after the first couple of days.

    Perhaps I am big hearted.

  • I'm pretty fucking awesome though.

  • Anyway! Bardet and Pinot in a breakaway. Presumably Sky's job to get them back. That's something interestingish.

  • I respectfully disagree, the genetic probability of having any one of these perfect factors is extremely low, let alone having the holy trinity of lung, heart and metabolic perfection.

  • N/m - Sky caught them. All 22 of them.

  • 'outlier' ≠ 'perfection'

  • Can we stop this HR / doping chat and go back to exciting stuff like failed breakaways, road bikes with stupid suspension and how Phil is a douchebag etc?

  • This is the problem with the Tour, both on the road and off it's a wee bit dull...

You mad bro? Every day so far has been exciting racing.

  • ^^ I do think that's the way to go. Make them publish everything for each stage of each race. Make it a live thing that can be overlaid on screen for us viewers and let people analyse it as much as they want.

Edit - bollocks, didn't refresh and am a page late. Never mind.

  • Does this mean my HR makes me more awesome?

I have bradycardia and left bundle branch block. Plus my aortic valve is bicuspid (it's usually tricuspid) but that's a very common problem.

  • 5.58 W/kg for 47.5km. Struth.

  • True. Less awesome than @Chalfie though - you can't argue with the science here. He is at least 10 more awesome than you and about 40 more awesome than me.

  • Will itv4 do a special end credits this is all the efups that these two muppets made this year goodbye and eff off back to nbs.

  • The end credit montages on the final day of the tour are actually one of my favourite things about ITV4's coverage.

I watch them on youtube when I'm drunk.

  • Whyyyy eurosport whyyyyy am I watching them talk about crap instead of the tour?

  • Break of the day is away and everyone's favourite gurning Frenchie, Tommy V, is in it.

  • This is Tommy V's year, mark my words.

  • Why don't the other big teams throw up riders trying to bridge the gap know it will be Sky trying to pull them back? Make them work and wear them out?

  • Did I hear that this is this Europcar last season?

  • Can you repeat that in English please. I don't read Canadian.

  • Because.

Geraint's view: "This stage in the Pyrenees certainly lends itself to a breakaway. None of the teams chasing the overall win will ride full gas for the entire stage because the last climb isn't that hard. But it can still cause problems.
"There might be a few guys cracking and they could lose minutes off the back, because the Col d'Aspin and the Tourmalet are two solid climbs, and with the long descent towards the finish it won't be a straightforward day, that's for sure."
Geraint's one to watch: "We're likely to see a breakaway but it will have to be a rider suited to climbing, with the Aspin and the Tourmalet. Attacking French rider Thomas Voeckler may fancy it."

  • Sorry, it was a mess to start and I kept trying to edit it clear it up. Made it worse.

Why don't the other teams continuously try to bridge the gap with the aim of forcing Sky to chase them down (or let them go)? That would be a pretty tough day for Sky.

  • And why have they taken the C-c-crazy Euro guy off Lemond on Tour?!

  • :) He'd make a great character in Lord of the Rings
