Or are you confusing dinner (midday meal) with tea (evening meal).

Supper is perfectly acceptable when it involves fish being consumed on the way home from the pub.

Dinner, served by dinner ladies in the canteen during the dinner break usually involving some kind of reclaimed meat product. Lunch, something that is carried in a Tupperware box and involves soggy bread and bruised fruit.
