Can you look up how much of this trail is visible? http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9286004

I'm afraid it doesn't look great compared to your route on ridewithgps
So you're staying on the west/south side of the river/stream there, whereas exporting as a gpx and then loading onto my 810 with garmin maps has you crossing the river/stream multiple times (no, I'm not quite sure how you're expected to do that either).
Sorry man. On the other hand, the second half of that trail (away from the water) looks to be pretty much identical!
Yep, that's what Garmin said! Completely agree that it sucks. I do understand from their point of view that they can't troubleshoot as they aren't the people that produce the maps.
However, from reading about on the internet a bit, and even on Garmin's own forums, this appears to be a well known issue. If they are going to sell a device that you can load maps on to, which they sell both with their own mapping included and without, I feel like they should be a bit more receptive to working out a solution with their customers who have paid quite a decent sum of money to buy their devices.
Are there any specific trails you want to use? If you like I can try to have a look on my copy of the maps and see whether they are there, if it's going to make a difference to you?
