Yep, that's what Garmin said! Completely agree that it sucks. I do understand from their point of view that they can't troubleshoot as they aren't the people that produce the maps.
However, from reading about on the internet a bit, and even on Garmin's own forums, this appears to be a well known issue. If they are going to sell a device that you can load maps on to, which they sell both with their own mapping included and without, I feel like they should be a bit more receptive to working out a solution with their customers who have paid quite a decent sum of money to buy their devices.
Are there any specific trails you want to use? If you like I can try to have a look on my copy of the maps and see whether they are there, if it's going to make a difference to you?

Can you look up how much of this trail is visible? http://ridewithgps.com/routes/9286004

I don't know if you'd be able to help, as you might have only the Garmin euro maps, but I'm using my 810 to navigate the Munda Biddi trail in Western Australia. That being said, I won't be using way points or anything, it's semi-decently sign posted, and I'll be using the 810 "free-ride" map screen to just keep an eye on the trail at major turn points, as well as paper maps.
So to follow on off all that...does it crash in the free-ride map screen, or only during actual point to point navigation? I did 7 hours with it on the trail and it seemed ok, but I need it to be stable for 9 days of 12-14 hours a day...
So there's issues using openstreet maps? Kinda sucks as garmin maps likely won't have the trails I'll be riding =/
