So if they had no books and a big flatscreen telly they'd be alright?
Not a fan of the masses of chintz, but some people collect that kind of stuff. When I was a teenager I spent a couple of summers selling china figurines to middle aged American tourists in Windsor. Didn't see the point - all seemed like pointless tat to me - but it seemed to make them happy.
This all reminds me a bit of the nodders argument.
