  • @aggi the above is essentially the official NHS advice, at least in my PCT. Also twisty exercises, same starting position but rotate the legs sideways while keeping your shoulders flat on the floor.

  • fwiw pedantry... NHS PCT's are something that have been long replaced by commissioning groups. And clinical practice is not informed by either anyway, the provision of services is, but not the clinical content of those services. That would be informed by best practice in those medical fields and NICE.

    I think the treatment leaflet I got for lower back pain was issued under the rubric of the PCT, possibly because it hadn't needed updating since the demise of that organisation. My CCG is in a federation covering exactly the same area as the former PCT, so I'm not sure what reorganisation has achieved :-)
