  • I reckon you didn't hammer hard enough. Ride some more and do some bouncing around and report back.

  • Find someone with a 31.8mm seatpost who has it inserted lots and take the end off convincing them it's to save them weight and make them faster.

  • Woke up with an aching back this morning, down at the base of the spine; was a struggle to walk for a while. Not quite so bad now but any suggestions to alleviate it. I'm away at the moment so a doctor would be a real hassle. Cheers

  • I ride a 51-52cm top tube frame for a road bike with drops, with a frame with risers or swept back bars 56cm is perfect.

Id say go a wee bit larger. Not much though.

  • That might also work. Know anyone with an overweight seatpost?

  • I get/got this a lot and it could be tight hip flexors which tilt your pelvis forwards. This stretch might help. I AM NOT A DOCTOR.

I do that and clench the bum cheek of the rear leg at the same time as recommended by my fizzy-o.

  • A few years ago I saw a chiropractor (THIS WAS BEFORE I KNEW OK SO DON'T JUDGE) for lower back pain, and she had me do this stretch, which really helped a lot:

She recommended each knee in turn, then both knees up at the same time, and also suggested to - if it's not uncomfortable - keep the leg on the unstretched side flat on the floor (instead of just having the foot on the floor).

NB the stretches were for muscle pain, and if you have broken your vertebrae then this probably won't help at all and will make things worse so by taking my third hand "medical" advice you agree that I will not be held liable for any loss or damage arising from your following of it.

  • Anyone got a 31.8 carbon bar I can cut up?

I have an old crabon seatpost that should never be ridden that you can take.

  • That might work. How do I relieve you of this?

  • That might be a problem - I'm off on holiday tomorrow evening.

Otherwise, I live about 7 miles due South of you - I'm at home this evening and all of tomorrow.

  • Can you PM me your address and when you'll be home from?
I could ride over tonight after work and take it off your hands?

  • Where's the thread on the current omnicluster that is the Embankment, and what the Embankment is going to become with the new fully segregated NodderTrailOfDoomâ„¢

  • Cheers both, I'll give them a try. Pretty sure it's due to either lugging a suitcase on the subway or crap hotel bed so hopefully just muscular.

  • I just found this little circle on the downtube of my Systemsix, its nowhere near the crank or the chain but looks like something has been rubbing it through.

super confused, any suggestions what might have caused it?

Its really smooth so I don't think its a big stonechip

area also seems to be oily all the time.

  • I'm quite looking forward to seeing it. Working in SH this week and the traffic that insisted on clogging Embankment every morning when they started seems to have moved elsewhere already. Woop.

  • if you've taken your bike anywhere by other transportation, it only takes an hour of motor induced vibration to make something as innocuous as a storage box or rack clip to chafe the surface

  • Bottom of a bottle?

Do you tie your bike down before sex?

  • @aggi the above is essentially the official NHS advice, at least in my PCT. Also twisty exercises, same starting position but rotate the legs sideways while keeping your shoulders flat on the floor.

  • D-lock dropped on it (not necessarily yours) or rubbed against it.

  • I've got a very old Philips that needs new wheels and years ago I bought a set of 27'' with fairly old campag hubs (they've got a 6 speed).

I just tried to fit them and of course they don't fit because the axles are too big. On another bike I filed the drop outs but as its my dads I'd rather not.

Can I buy replacement axles that will fit the hubs and dropouts ?

Also the little cog on the 6 speed block rub the chain stay. Is it best to space it out with a spacer?

  • Everything Exustar I've bought has broken within a month. I avoid their shit like the plague.

  • My girlfriend has just bought a charge plug. The steering kinda locks in a straight position and the woman who sold it to her claims it is meant to do that, which I think is bullshit.
Has anyone else heard of this, or does it just need a re-grease?

  • Headset is too tight, if it's been too tight for too long it could be fucked but chances are it'll at least be ok if you loosen it off a bit.
