• Not sure if this is the right place for this question, but I am trying to rebuild the rear hub of a brev.m wheel, and wanting to replace the bearings on the one side and may need to replace the axle. I am pretty sure it needs cartridge bearings but there is some wear that suggests it might be loose bearings on one side?! Or maybe that is just because it was being used incorrectly for a while, and has worn improperly. I have had a look at @Vince's tutorial here and I have one bearing, and the axle out, just wondering whether to leave the other bearing, and whether I need to replace the axle and what sort of seals it all in... Any help appreciated (even if only to redirect me to another thread where I can find the answer).

  • Bearings are cheap. You've done the hard work so you may as well replace them all. Is there a reason why you want to replace the axle?

  • Thanks, I thought the axle needed replacing because it looks like there is some strange wear or maybe the bearings are partly stuck to it? What do you reckon?
