  • See loads of young male moped riders with Iphones wedged between their ear and their helmet like this in SE London.

  • Motorbike couriers have been doing it for years.

  • What's wrong with it.

We're z judgemental bunch on here and no mistake. I've been away for a while cos I don't ride as much and felt I had little to offer. Pop back in and the whole place just feels a bit prickly. Lady DIYs a phone to her ear so she can multi task... So what?

  • *goes on Bad Cyist thread and us surprised by critical atmosphere.

  • What's wrong with it.

It's not illegal (for a cyclist, it would be for a motorist) but there's no dispute that talking on the 'phone is distracting, even if done with a hands free kit.

  • I know man but look at her. She's probably doing like 5mph all day. She's not looking at it, she's not busting through a pedestrian crossing or blindly crashing up the side of a truck.

  • ... She's not in 1.5 tonnes of car - staring at her screen, she's just going where she's going with a mobile phone crappily elasticated to her head. Who gives a fuck!

  • Here, here.

    Or is it "hear, hear"?

  • Also taking a photo is a bit creepy. Leave her alone.

  • +1. Or is that "plus one"?

  • Not sure why taking a photo of someone doing something a bit unusual is creepy. In so far as, surely the creepiness is bound up with the intent of the photo/photographer. All I'm seeing is a pic of someone with a phone tucked into their helmet straps, which is something you don't see every day.

  • It's never "here, here", ever.

  • 'ere 'ere

aitches ave no place beginning words in proper English

  • Safety concious enough to wear a helmet but has no concern that an accident might involve having a phone smashed into her face.

  • Then it should be 'ear, 'ear.

    Twerp

  • Anyway, don't your sort say "haitch" anyway, making it the only word in which you actually pronounce the initial "h" and then only because you are doing so incorrectly.

  • Can we change this thread to "Is it time to start calling out bad English?"

  • ..especially when uttered by diminutive northern types.

  • Safety concious enough to wear a helmet but has no concern that an accident might involve having a phone smashed into her face.

  • I'm claiming a troll point for Clive's ranting. I knew someone would bite.

  • Calling this guy out as a bit of a antihero. Certainly made me laugh.

    "I Am That I Am"

  • You don't legally have to give your details unless you are under arrest, and even then you're only obliged to give them at the custody desk and in interview.

He should have just ridden away, I can't see a PCSO chasing him down just to issue a ticket.

  • Sounds like he had some time on his hands and thought, lets see where this goes...

  • I knew someone would bite.

    Or gum, at least.
