  • Not sure they apply it for TTT anyway. Pretty sure they wouldn't do it with the people's favourite team or any team for that matter. Too harmful for sponsors.

  • Who says that lump in their backs is less aero?

  • Eurosport or gtfo

  • I'd guess if it did, all the track pursuit riders would be doing something similar?

(I get your point that it's meaningless unless you test it, but most of them are massively off to one side which would help on a Velodrome I guess but not on the road?.??)

  • Are there any plans for a forum sit-in-a-pub-and-watch-the-tour day this year? Last year at the Reej was nice enough despite being south

  • Everyone loves Orica.

    Apart from the planet.

  • Orica got BURNED

  • Perhaps we should have safety warnings or caveats on pro teams jerseys for their sponsors...

A huge photo of murdochs face on the back of sky jerseys, or some poisoned turtles/ children on the orica ones

  • I like the idea of a reej stage, maybe Friday?

  • not sure this Fridays stage will be worth getting the time off for me. this thurs though, or next Fri?

  • Yeah, I didn't check the parcours before suggesting that.

    I'll go with the masses...

  • Next Friday would be my vote, but I've just realized I'll be riding my own bike around Scotland. I'm not sure how I feel about this...

  • But the trackies aren't allowed to use fairings or trips. But if you could incorporate a radio so that it changes the airflow over your back...

Presumably because if it sits right on your spine though, they move the pockets to the side.

It does seem a bit odd that they never seem to show windtunnel pics of riders WITH radios. Fucking rookies...

  • Australia is basically a mine, providing to China, so that we may enjoy mobile phones, laptops, etc.

They don't actually have any other sponsors available...

  • Sky: News Corp and a car company - real angels they are...

  • Ever since Wiggo '12 I get all my opinions from News Corp. #themurdochlife

  • this. manufacturers spend tons on R&D, windtunnels, clothing (Froome even had a seamstress come over to extra-tight-fit-and-dewrinkle his yellow aerosuit) helmets, develop integrated brakes and whatnot, then strap a brick to the back of their riders as soon as the race begins. #baffled

  • To say nothing of numbers. When will as skin suit be made that incorporates a transparent pocket into which one can slide a number?

  • Looking at the schedule, Tourmalet is this Wednesday
    Thursday is pretty lumpy looking

  • Or the TdF permit the printing of numbers onto shirts like in other sports?

  • @rhowe That profile looks as aero as a TdF tester's back.

  • We're living in that age. As used by Lotto Jumbo in the TdF. Only saves 3 watts over a properly pinned number mind.

  • Very few TdF riders care about their TT position, and have other demands to factor in besides getting in the absolute most aero position. Your average UK "elite" amateur time triallist has a lower CdA than Tour riders (aided partly by UCI restrictions).
