Rear shock is shit, the carb needles wear to oval and giving poor mpg. Replace the calipers for blue spot ones. Oh and you can lean them over enough to run out of tread.

Multistrada?
What are the comfort issues is it bike set up or maybe a seat remodel could help.

Dullville has gears ;)
So does my NC700...
Multistrada?
I'd rather get something that was already set up for touring (included paniers etc) and the Multistrada seat height is a bit much if i'm also going to be using it around town etc.

Buy my Versys!

Nah. That's one ugly bike.
(sorry)

I had a go on a Dullville years ago...lived up to the name, though I'm sure they're better now. How about a VFR750/800 or something from that family? Really lovely all rounders, I nearly bought the last of the 750 models a while back for pottering with the Mrs.

I do like the look of the vfr800 but things like built in panniers and shaft drive lead me back to the deauville.
The fact that a low mileage one is also fairly inexpensive is good.
I guess the next step is to test one...

You can get a BMW RT1150 for £3-4k. It's shaft drive but it's consistently at the top end of the touring bike ratings. I had one of the earlier NT's and it never left me stranded, however the rear suspension crapped out on a short tour of Devon/Cornwall 2up and I washed out the front a few times because no ABS. Dropped a valve once but still got home.

I need some advice from you guys as I'm not very experienced in repairing motorbikes.
I have Yamaha ybr125 and the problem is that I have difficulty putting it from 1st to N and when I move the bike backwards and forwards sometimes it works. Do you know what might be the problem and how hard it would be to fix it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated as I'm fed up with holding the cluch and staying in 1st gear at traffic lights.
Thanks -

Check your clutch freeplay, chain tension and lubrication. Sometimes first to neutral can be trickier. Rocking back and forward or going into neutral before you stop make life easier.

Shaft drive is awesome, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Is there a politically correct term I can shout at those blokes who drive through London's famous London at this time of night on Quad Bikes?
They seem to be utter, utter cunts, but please enlighten me if there is a better word for them. -
• #6190
Not that I'm prejudiced or anything, but they might as well walk about the west end wearing sandwich boards which say "Please look at me, I still live with my mum and nobody loves me."

Try giving the throttle a little bit of gas (whilst holding the clutch in, obviously) as you select neutral, I find that helps.

SE London is bad for that once you get into zone 3/4. Vast packs of them, 20 at a time. There's been a couple of deaths near me recently.

Thanks a lot guys, I'll try that

When coming to a stop, just go from second to neutral while rolling and leave it there. No need to use 1st for anything other than pulling away from a stop, or the slowest of slow speed riding.

No, the BMW have issues, that are expensive and aren't that great. As you show by having front end wash out.

I almost killed one idiot in blackheath who decided to over take a line of traffic when faced with a landrover coming at him. I braked and swerved to avoid him and I was called names.

Wow my multistrada must be unique coming with panniers ;) The bikes can be lowered easily and seats remodelled. Get ones with the lightweight wheels, amazing handling difference and an s with the ohlins suspension. Belts on the 1000 and 1100 are easily done.
-

Obviously you can fit panniers. I can fit them on my NC700. The Deauville has them built in which means they're always there and a slimmer overall profile than bolted on ones.
Also, what's the point in buying something and then having to fettle with the seat, wheels, drivetrain and luggage just to get it set up similar to another bike that already exists? Madness...

Sorry mate, you read me wrong. Had the front end lock up a few times on the Honda. The 1150 has abs and the R80 has only ever locked up once and it was controllable. The BMW's are expensive if the rear drive fails, otherwise they do consistently rate highly with owners for touring and that's what was being discussed. They're not perfect of course but good for that job.
I'm guessing it would be the R1150RS rather than the RT which would compare to the multistrada. I've not ridden the Ducati but it has a good rep. Not the same full touring style as an RT though.
Dullville has gears ;)
They do have issues, mainly they need decent suspension set up for the weight of you, your pillion and the gear does help. The engine is sweet good for miles if looked after.
