I like scavenging cambridge audio a1 as they burn chips and have a decent toroidal power supply and a fuck off heat sink.
Is there a guide/tutorial to fixing these up? How straightforward is it?
Those Cambridge Audio amps have an integrated preamp/poweramp IC which if I remember back fifteen years ago or so, is a TDA somethingorother. De-solder chip and replace. It's in an SIL (single in line) package, so pins only on one side.
