  • interested. Anyone know much about Vitali?

  • It's not easy to find any information about this bikes... probably @Carlo_Alberto might help, however I wouldn't think too much as this is so hot. I would have taken it myself if I didn't spent all on my new Tecnos.

    Bump for some Italian Porn.

  • He's selling on an italian forum as well (which goes against the rules here, @Carlo_Alberto!) and it seems that Diego Vitali was a frame builder in Emilia Romagna in the town of Ravenna non that far away from where Somec is. Indeed it seems that the painters were the same for both and that vicinity also explains why they look similar.

Btw, in the Italian thread it is said that the crown is not a unicrown one, but simply a normal sloping one.

  • It also seems, looking around on the web that Diego Vitali was Gimondi's mechanic from 68 to 73 "Salvarani" team.
He seem to have built around 3000 frames
He also built a lot of frames for Vicini and other bigger italian Brands and he was really good in TIG welding.
He has died at the age of 89

He is a little know legend, makes great frames and this is one of them

  • This is so nice I must resist

  • Why ?

  • Ive got a Biondi frame in the same size built up as my steel whip...

  • n+1 anyone? :D

  • @Jancque Vitali was one of the best framebuilder of our region. As @anidel wrote he became famous as Gimondi mechanic. He was based in Russi (a small town near Ravenna, approx 75km from Bologna)
There are plenty of similiraties between this frame and the Somec ones from the same years. Seat lug and fork crown are almost the same so it's very easy to think that there was a sort of partnership between Vitali and Somec (someone told me that Vitali built many Somec branded frames).

  • And btw, you can sell on here if you are also selling somewhere else. So either you take this ad down or the others.

  • Thanks @Carlo_Alberto. Always good learning something new. Somec or not this is a proper stunner.

If I had more cash I would have taken it.
