what up my dudes, I'm back doing stupid stuff to this bike.
I have managed, through sheer dumb luck, to fix the problem with my back, so I'm slowly building up my fitness and mileage (kilometerage?) again. This means I am allowed to buy more stupid bullshit. Woo!
Unfortunately, I've been made redundant recently, which is scaling back my carbon ambitions slightly, but considering I'm in shit shape in the middle of the racing season, I'm gunna by some year round bits and get to training.
Ordering some Superstar-built Pacenti wheels this week, with an Ultegra cassette, GP4000 in 25, latex tubes and some ti skewers. Replacing the gross FSA chainrings with a set of Praxis classic chainrings (I prefer the look to the clovers) and getting a DA9000 chain.
Front end is fine as it is, just need to trim the steerer. Stem will get changed out when I've stopped getting flexier, and will have ti bolts and a Tillquist garmin mount.
Arse end is a Ti Romin on a Thomson Masterpiece, which is fine, if sliiiightly uncomfortable. I'm thinking about trying SMPs again, but otherwise I'll get a carbon railed Romin and keep the other one for my tarck bark.
Frame is going to get stripped and sanded, then base layered in black. Black cannondale decals will be applied, and then a lurid, neon pink fade will be applied (a la this hoops job). Decals will then be removed, hopefully leading to the cannondale lettering fading into the darknessssss. I have access to spray guns and a booth etc, but absolutely no background in painting and no chance of help, so it will definitely be a hilarious bodge job. Any advice appreciated.
Last touches will be my LBS sorting out the Yokozuna cabling, and I might touch up the SRAM levers and derailer to have the same pink accents as the frame for dickhead points. THEN I'LL BE FINISHED*.
I hope this will all happen in the next month. Considering the length of this thread, and my chronic indecision, it'll probably be around Christmas before it's done...
*until next year when I want Zipps and a PM and aeros and shit.
