Suspect you're right. It's a distinctive, instant classic of a design, it's (presumably) one of the last Tudor models that adheres to their historical use of ETA movements, and it's only been available for three years, which is a flash in the pan.
The new model, while desirable in its own right for the new movement and the blue colouring, will only ever be a later model of a classic.
The ETA model also has the advantage that any independent watchmaker can service it, the new one will have to go back to Tudex, with the attendant cost.

Move quickly if you're serious about this. Rumours that Tudor are recalling old stock of the Pelagos before the new one appears.

You know I've a funny feeling the original Tudor Pelagos is going to become a major classic in years to come. It has all the right ingredients for it. The new one is a step back, what with all the text on the face etc. Am seriously considering getting one of the originals as a keeper to put in the safe.
