  • As far as I'm aware, as there is no MOT for bikes, you can get away with an illegal home-build but manufacturers won't make an illegal bike to sell.

    That douche probably made it himself, or got someone to do the work for him.

    Until Mr Plod spots you using it on the public highway. If it's too fast/heavy/powerful to qualify as an EAPC, it's a motorcycle subject to all the usual construction and use, tax, testing and licensing regime you'd enjoy if it had an internal combustion engine.

  • I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm suggesting the likelihood of someone getting caught unless they're in an accident or cruise past a police car doing 30mph without pedalling and an obvious motor on their bike is pretty low. In my opinion.

  • Reckon I'd take an Abus Mini over the Kryptonite, having used both.

    Not sure what the official LFGSS review is, but it's got a better locking mechanism and a thicker shackle.

  • I just got hit by this cab. Me and bike is fine as was low speed incident.

    But wondering if there is anything worth doing ?
    Driver gave some gob was moderately confrontational, shifted blame and then drove off.

  • Are cabbies exempt from wearing seatbelts ?

    If no damage and no injury then police won't be interested.
    (i had some drunks do over my car, because the wing mirror clipped back on and the roof dent popped out with no visable damage only foot prints police couldn't touch them, gave them a talking too, there details got logged that was it)

    File a complaint anyway so it's logged with those that oversea these things, if it's an ongoing issue with the driver/vehicle then it should stack up against them in the future.

  • Over here (not UK), Kryptonite is uncommon, unlike Abus locks. Abus have a history of recalls due to producing terrible locks. Kryptonite had that a long time ago but Abus has that a lot. Bike thieves like bikes that are locked up with Abus and AXA. More common issues while an uncommon lock like a Krypt is difficult because they don't know the brand.

  • Hmm. My Krypto has been fine for 4 years, only had the Abus 6 months though so this is just based off initial impressions.

  • I bought a new mini d the other day (probably my third or fourth over the years) and I hate it!

    On all the old ones, the key always went in smoothly first time and locked/unlocked easily in a one motion. This one i have to jab and waggle the key and it almost always gets stuck and nnnnnnnggggggggg! I thought it would smooth out with use but it's been a a few months now and it's still annoying as ever.

    I have the mini-and a bit (the one that's the same width and a big longer than a mini that comes with a tether) which still works brilliantly. Going to go back to that I think.

    No idea why this particular one should be such a pain but it is.

  • Getting shirts done at the dry cleaner. My local one in Dalston charged me £2.50/shirt for wash, dry, and iron. Which I thought was ridiculously expensive. So today I dropped off some shirts which I'd washed and dried and he still wanted £1.80/shirt just for ironing! In Romford (I know), the local dry cleaner charged me 80p/shirt for just ironing, which I was very happy paying. Is £1.80 a standard London price or do I need to find a different dry cleaner?
