do you know if it is normal to not have a cutout for lockring on the steerer?
Yes.
You will find forks with a notch, some with a chamfer and some with nothing at all.
I've found the tabbed washers to be troublesome, as the tab can get jammed in the cut-out.
Either way, I've not found any sort of locking mechanism necessary and I'm currently running a HS without a washer at all, like you.
PS The chrome and violet looks gorgeous!

i know what you mean bout jammed washers. had one mean washer stuck. the thing is you can't force it off with hammer and screwdriver because of the fear of damaging the steerer's thread.
it is of great comfort to hear that you have not used a washer and your HS is alright.
thank you, chrome and violet do go well together. most people i know and people in my lbs said "it's pink" as a first thing. heather violet is not common colour so people do not recognise it.

You can buy those Tange headsets in chrome for like 10£ free shipping.
-
• #106
^^^^ yup, this would look a lot better than the matte headset tbh.
-
• #107
alright, i am gonna get that. but is it ok if i get one in silver rather than chrome? i like the finish on this better.
if it is chrome it will look like an extension of the headtube.

That is the same one you have fitted isnt it? I have black passage hs here if you want to swap again.
Dont lose interest before your audience... best weather is here now, come on!
Hows are wheels rolling?
-
• #109
No, current one is satin. I am convinced silver will be better so don't want the black one atm. But if you live in London and have silver track pedals with toe clips and straps, in decent shape, would like to buy them, please.
Wheels are yet to be built, chainline was checked with other wheel.
Thanks for encouragement

Velosolo has a chrome Tange Passage in their ebay shop http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TANGE-1-Threaded-HEADSET-CHROME-for-steel-frame-fixed-/300524820507?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item45f8acd81b

it is between this
and this
you might be right to suggest chrome.

Chrome

Chrome tricks the eye into creating a seamless blend between the chrome on the frame and the headset/forks. On this (beautiful) frame, the satin jars and I think it really deserves a matching headset.

Go chrome. Contact points will look way better!

I am not going anywhere with this project and losing interest.
Yet here we are looking at pictures of a functional bicycle.
Bike looks pretty sharp! How do you feel now you've finished it? How does it ride?
-

Looking very pretty and pink.
Invest in a good pair of gloves if you gonna use benotto tape daily? Ive been using some giro dnd since christmas, they have padding, nice colours and they holding up really well. I recommend.. -

remove the "open pro" stickers and a non-drilled chainring and it would be bang
-
• #123
Will remove stickers. But the chainring, uh, if you saw the bike in flesh you would see how right it is on the bike. So it will stay.

At first I was like "fuck yeah, that's gorgeous".
But then I spotted the valve caps and then I was all...

you like these metal ones? if yes, i am gonna buy and put them on.
will see if it works as it is now. But the idea about stripping the anodizing off the black headset is brilliant. I would have used the black headset but it turned out to be JIS with a crown face diameter of 27mm. However I can use the top part of the headset.
It would be great to have another pelizzoli fork but they gonna charge at least £150.
do you know if it is normal to not have a cutout for lockring on the steerer?
