Only on my TT bike, which doesn't really get used on particularly poor roads. On the older ones the tread always perished before I wore them out, don't know about the new ones. I'd have thought 800-1k miles out of a rear would be what you could expect.

Thanks Ed, but if GP4000s are as fast then why do Conti bother making the GP Supersonic?
@skinny, I'd like to see some results too.I just have in mind riding fast because it feels good and not minding getting punctures because it's not for races or TTs, or having a short tread life because I am frivolous.
In this case isn't any 'puncture protection' layer just unnecessarily adding rolling resistance and weight?Not tubs, so I can patch and continue if necessary.

You ridden them (pave) with the tread worn down? Makes a solid difference i think.

Start with latex tubes rather than 'lightweight'.
Not tubs, so I can patch and continue if necessary.

If zero fcuks given to punctures then just Vittoria Open Corsa (EVO CX or whatever) or Veloflex (if you're not too bothered about them being round, but are bothered about them being sexy/Italian).

why do Conti bother making the GP Supersonic?
Because they're aimed for TT.
If you want to go faster, get bigger tyres and run a much lower pressure than you think.
The Conti GP 4000s is the idea choice for UK road and condition.

What's the point?
Smart TT riders will use what ever gives the best time, whether or not it's aimed for them.
I run 32c tyres on my daily rider; I don't think they're the fastest though.Do you mean to say they just have a TT tax on them, but aren't necessarily faster?

Need to ride the Open Pave more on wet/damp day as I only ever ridden them on dry since I used the other bike instead for that.
GP4000S and Open Pave are both exceptional tyres, OP probably better for gravel.

The weight and quality of the tyres contributed to this, the fastest tyres I've ridden are a 32mm tyres that weight a mere 285g.

Open Pave are just about all the tyre you ever need, in any condition. Only my opinion, and I'm no racer, pro, tt-er or anything. They wear fast but they roll fast, are comfortable, can handle a little rough surfaces and they handle well and grip forever. The GP4000s are nearly as good, as many people have said. Although I have noticed as they get older they are getting a bit hard.

Opposite true for puncture resistance. The GP4000s really is a triumph in terms of combining speed and puncture resistance, tbh I'd stick with then as Supersonics are just fragile for daily use.

At a certain point you have to factor in aerodynamics into the equation, which is a whole other variable.
Supersonic and VF Record could be evenly matched in terms of pure speed at 30mph, but that could be due to SS having higher Crr and lower CdA, with the opposite being true for the VF.
Then you have to consider the relationship between tyre and wheel, tyre A might be faster than tyre B on one wheel, but slower on another.
Conti claim the GP4000s is super aero and Specialized reckon the Turbo Cotton is similar, but you'd have to be able to test at such a small resolution to tell the difference.

Ah yeah, when I search for the tyres, it's listed under Triathlon/TT, but description said;
This tyre is intended for race use only in solo events on the road or as an all-round track clincher (indoor & outdoor).
