  • I'm really not sure it's that simple. Someone who used to work at Kids Company said on R5 Live today that she is 'a south London Sepp Blatter'.

Personally I am always very wary of charities or organisations run by 'charismatic' individuals without whom there would be no organisation. From a governance point of view, there be dragons.

Not disagreeing with your sentiment on the Tory approach to child poverty though, or charities for that matter. They are currently busy applying political pressure to the Charities Commission to prevent any form of campaigning.

Using a liquid manure based metaphor, it's fine for charities to clean up the mess politicians make, but how very dare they even think about turning off the shit tap at source.

  • This person, if it is the same one and I believe it is, was cited in the Spectator shit stain of an article trying to discredit them. That person couldnt get their head around the Kids Company methods so instead of accepting that they had a different idea of how youth work should be handled, they resorted to "yeah, its all shit and they're a bunch of money wasting loons". Yes Camila's charismatic and odd to some, but her practices and work ethic are sound. Any time we went past the old HQ on the bus home from a night out, Camila's office light would still be on (which it was only if she still working). KC fundamentally believe in a child's human rights (see " rights of the child) and that at a base level they need love in order for any kind of support to actually be beneficial. It's upsetting how many people start to question ideas of boundaries and appropriateness when a youth worker hugs a traumatised or upset child when they want a hug. KC also run a degree level course in how to work with vulnerable young people, something that nobody else in the UK does. It would be a shame to lose that.

  • but her practices and work ethic are sound

    How do you know?

I'm not saying they aren't, but I'm not saying they are either. I'd say there is currently insufficient evidence.
