I used one once, happened to look at my chain before setting off on my commute one morning and saw that it was mostly disconnected. Never used one since.

I've used them with no problem. Running backwards or forwards will make no difference really. I prefer the kmc missing links design though.

We had a Citroen Berlingo on a recent trip. Horrible to drive
They're not horrible, they're just not fun. After about half a million miles in various Berlingos and about to order my fourth one, I'd say they're about the most #TesterApproved thing there is.

I'm now rethinking the validity of all the other #testerapprovals.

Solid vote for no!

If you don't understand why I approve of Berlingos, you probably don't understand my approval of anything.
-
• #69283
I thought I did, but now I just don't know. I would be interested in hearing your reasons for Berlingo approval though.

Practical ennit, and tester is getting on a bit.

I've always run v pad cartridge style pads on my cantis before. But these aren't for me and I'm trying to watch the £s.
Anyone had any experience with the mixed KoolStops? I figured a mix of black and salmon would be a good durability / performance combo for round town pootling.

I just Googled Berlingo and realised it's not what I thought it was. I was thinking of the Multipla. Phew.

Practical
↑This. As transport, it's hard to beat the combination of huge carrying capacity and low running costs. That applies more or less to everything in the class (Kangoo, Doblo, Connect, Caddy) but I've driven them all and the Berlingo is best for my money.

Also sounds like a euphemism for vagina.

much obliged, cheers @mdcc_tester
SRAM Apex caliper reach looked similar to Shimano's BR-R451 on web pics but turns out about 8mm shorter. So this is not an option for most 1970s/early 1980s steel frames.

OK, horrible is maybe a bit harsh. Bland, dull and joyless would be about par for the course though. Efficient but soulless.

Bland, dull and joyless
Looking from the other end of the telescope, I'd call it 'unremarkable', and I mean that in a good way.

Cheers. Cheapest price? Rose bikes or similar?

Gatorskin 32c?
-
• #69300
Gatorskin duraskin / ultra gator is folding. 30 quid or so. I used the 28s a lot they are good imo - ran them at 80psi minimum. Still have on back of fraudax bike.
Edit- hardshell version
Do people run master (split) links on their brakless bikes? I never have but am changing a chain tomorrow (Tester approved Wipperman) and am considering using one. I read somewhere that the joining a chain using a tool weakens the pin and so a masterlink could be arguably stronger/safer. I'm not convinced. Thoughts?
Also, would you run the master link backwards on a track bike to prevent undoing while resisting/skidding? I've seen in that way on track bikes.
