  • Ah, don't think they're avaliable aftermarket, some guys who don't like em have been floggin through Singletrack longitude forum, if memory serves, humpert not far off though.
Could try a Genesis dealer, see if they can ask distributors?

  • Any particular reason for choosing the ugly c-t-c Esq. grips rather than some Edwin types? Or is it just age catching up with you ;)

  • I wanted Cork grips, quite a few people have told me that ergo grips are a revelation if you can deal with the looks. I've got the opportunity, so I thought I'd give them a try. If I don't like them I'll get round ones.

  • Interested to see how you find the ergo grips. Surely they wouldn't be so popular without reason!

  • Are they the lady towns?

  • Sorry just seen this. Think I have another pair of the Alt bars here if you want them (same as used on Longitude/Caribou)? Otherwise available from any Genesis dealer (part no. 999793 - £24.99)

  • Climber I think.

  • I'll see how I get on with these bars I've just got and if I don't like them I'll let you know. Cheers!

  • ergons ftw... just make sure you angle them at a slight downward slope

  • Do you still polo ?

  • Cheers for the info, soon as I've sold some stuff I'll bag a set.

  • No probs @jontea @spotter

  • Really digging how you're going for the all silver.

  • Cool, have ordered the lady towns for the Argos, they're meant to have a little less sweep... Only down side is minimal rise but should be reet.

Against my better judgement I also ordered some cheap cork ergo grips.

  • Still waiting some bits but couldn't resist some mocking up.

Might put some flat pedals on too...

  • Stem looks good. Definitely tidies it up.

  • Higher than I thought, the top it's well clear of the steerer, but I supposed that doesn't matter as the clamp is at the bottom. I had to install a second, higher, star nut though as the old was too high.

I'm looking forward to 650b 42c now. Bouncy bikes fo lyfe

  • ^ I'm really looking forward to seeing this on 650B, you converting it any time soon?

  • this looks raddd

  • ps @spotter you'll love the swept bars

  • Looks super, super tasty, can't wait to see it with 650b. Got mine built up last night, that Jan Heine knows his onions man.

  • 650b will happen when I start my new job, it'll be reasonably expensive because it'll be involving a dynamo hub and new lights.

If the weather drys up after work I'll take some photos of the bike in its current, finished state.

  • Needs some tweeking, but done for the moment.

Brakes are very very underwhelming, I suspect its the second hand pads, but I can only barely lock up the wheels when riding, and then by squeezing very hard. I topped up the mineral oil when I got them. Had a go at burping them too. I think i'll try scrubbing the pads with acetone and if that doesn't work i'll have to find someone who knows more about these things than i.

Also made myself a light bracket from an old rack:

  • Looks good. How does it feel?

Well done for keeping it classy and avoiding it looking like a Rígida hybrid.

I'm weighing up the 25.4 version of those bars against another pair. Do you reckon I'd have any problems getting them through a quill stem with the various curves etc?
