I'm going to ride my first 10 with tri-bars and a disc tonight, having previously only ridden pursuit bars and 32H.
I've gone down one tooth on the back in anticipation of PBing.
If I fail can I legitimately blame the hot sticky air?
no, hot is good (provided the air pressure doesn't get too high) - it lowers the density of the air.
Ideal conditions (from an air density pov) are high temps, low pressure and high humidity.
There is no fail.
No, because as others have said, hot is good. But you have a much better excuse - never ridden with tri-bars, need to adapt, tweak position, optimise aero v. biomech balance, blah blah blah. Plenty of potential for excuses there.
