  • Thanks @keanulooser

  • Nuun is a lifesaver in this weather.

Does anyone know if there is a maximum number of tablets you can take in a day, (or should I assume I could never drink that much water?) because I'm not drinking water without it at the moment.

Also, are there any medication contraindications? I'm tempted to give my elderly neighbours a few to help them through this weather.

    (sorry too hot to UTFS).

  • It really should state this on the tube.

But dont go mad unless you're sweating. Otherwise you're replacing salts you're not actually losing.

  • Might be worth skimming through https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication then any of the "See also:" links starting with Hyper...

  • That is really useful thanks. #rep

  • (Subject to other medical conditions you may not be aware of) If you make up Nuun at the right strength (i.e. one tab per 500ml) and just kept on drinking more and more of it then you'd die of hyponatremia (water intoxication) long before there was any adverse effects from too many electrolytes (salts, etc).

In other words, the added electrolytes would have no contributory affect over the volume of water you're drinking.

Any extra electrolytes you consume will be stored by the body up to a point, and then any excess will come out in sweat and urine.

HOW MUCH NUUN SHOULD I DRINK?

well, we're not really sure how much nuun you should drink. but wait, let us explain: nuun was designed to give you the right balance of electrolytes to water but there's no prescribed amount. just add one tablet for every 16oz (500ml) of water, and you'll have the correct ratio. our advice is to drink what you think you need--your body should be able to tell you. there are many years of design in that body of yours and it's rather good at keeping you alive and kicking, so listen to it and, if you're thirsty, drink up. if you drink too much, you'll probably just take an extra trip to the toilet. bottom line....drink as you feel you need

  • i am getting through 6 to 8 liters of fluid a day at the moment, a lot of it nuun. am not pissing the same volume out.

  • Some hydration tabs contain further additives than just the electrolytes. Caffeine, B-vits, minerals etc.

So remember to read the packaging kids.

  • yep, very

  • That water intoxication stuff looks scary. I'm limiting my water consumption to tonic water accompanied by Gin.

  • My piss came out this morning like searing hot resin.

  • *slow clap*

Isn't the whole point of adding tablets like Nuun to your water to prevent hyponatraemia by ensuring that you maintain sodium levels in your bloodstream? If you drink more and more of it, you're probably just going to end up going to the toilet a lot.

  • At the specified strength (one tab per 500ml) it's still hypotonic.

  • Like treacle.

  • is lemonade flavour gross?

  • Not at all

  • It's fine.

  • It's really good, think it might be my favourite yet!

    @DoktorPepe Urghhh kola is naaasssttyyyyy

  • ^ Same, it's my go-to. A fairly mild flavour so you can't really disagree with it.

  • People worried about dehydration and hyponatraemia in Britain LOLs.
