or, as 8 speed becomes scarcer (and gets reserved for show ponies), trawl the ebay ocean of cheapish 9/10sp seond hand stuff and ride it until it fails then bin. cheaper than buying new and plenty of spares availability - but you won't be able to partake in di2/disc/hydro type discussions with the shiny gear people... sandpandafacedotjaypeg
