More likely to be next week or the one after. I was going to do a little mini tour maybe of Essex. Bearing in mind that I'm going to be a weak cyclist after almost 6 weeks off the bike.

I'm not fit either. Essex is a little too close for comfort for me though.. Going to train it out of the city and then start the day 'out der'

Im game.

Make it the week after next and I could maybe come for at least some of it. Need to check how much leave I've got.
Could maybe even do a bit of next week but more notice is good.
Weather is looking good for the next month thanks to the Spanish plume...

Ok let's do dis!

woo
I still need to buy a sleeping bag.
-
• #687
you'll only need an argos special in this weather
-
• #688
What do we need do you think, I know I'll want a ground tarp and a mattress.
-
• #689
I am bag + hammock + bivvi + mattress + tarp right now. Tent is overkill and my bag is probably overkill too.
-
• #690
I have a tent (Laser Comp) which I plan to bring because it was pricey and I want to get VFM from it and it is pretty much the only piece of camping equipment I own right now.
@7Üp do you recommend the Thermarest ProLite? I need a mattress.
What is the recommended packs down very small and light but not too expensive sleeping bag?
-
• #691
Yes I do. The orange one.
I recommend the smaller one since feet go on bags/clothes/sitpad. It is nalgene sized when rolled up and pretty resilient.Snugpak make good synthetic (cheap) bags. They're relatively light, too. I need a summer one now.

What cheap 2man (2 actual men) tent are people using?
Seen this Vango Helix

EDIT:
Just going to get wild country from here probs

Going to get the Hoolie 2. Like the Zephyros as I know my Laser comp is a great tent, but for 2 people it will be too small. Don't mind the extra 400g for the hoolie given it's extra length and space.

• #694
I bought the hoolie 2 also and really like it, ive only used it twice, once on my own and it was really spacious, once with someone else, and theres enough room if you're ok being snug.
-
• #695
who wouldn't want to be snug with that little pikachu awwwwmmmf look at its face brrrrkjAHDFLAKSHDGASmjadghwfadw

I've had a snugpack bag for many years, its still going strong. Would recommend .

cuben is the shit. Although it isn't freestanding :(
-

How important do you find being freestanding while 'wild' camping? Current tent i'm planning to take to balkans ain't freestanding.
Good luck and good friends will keep you warm.
